Under 16B

24-7-10 - We played Gwandalan today. The first half wasn't our best, with many of our players worrying more about the physical tactics of the other team than our own game. Down 2-0 at half time, from a deflection and a
penalty wasn't exactly where we wanted to be. An inspiring half time talk from the coach (ha ha) saw us come out firing in the second half. Plenty of positive talk starting from Jack Pengelly in goals had us playing
much better football. Josh Wilcher got us back in the game with our first goal, and only a few minutes later, Nathan Schembri shrugged off a few would-be tacklers to hit an amazing left-footed shot from well outside
the area beating the keeper comfortably. Back to 2-all and it was game on. Our defence was holding up nicely, Jake Carraro had his troops sorted well and Natasha "nice hair" Jack was all over the opposing forwards.
With a few minutes left on the clock, Gwandalan scored with a well placed shot that Jack was just unable to keep out. In the end, going down 3-2 against one of the top placed teams was a great effort by everyone.
Player of the Match was awarded to Natasha - she received 28 points from a possible 33, 9 of her team mates voted her best on field!!!!

17-7-10 - U16 played Killarney Vale today and went down 2-1. We had control for most of the match just unlucky not to get a couple more goals. Player of the match Jake Carraro, started brilliantly in sweeper and provided the go forward from the centre of midfield late in the second half. A determined effort by everyone, with special mention to Shane Spano with his 3rd goal of the year.

3-7-10 - U16's vs Doyalson 7-0 win
What a game!! Right from the kick-off we started to attack... within minutes Troy Leccas put his name on the scoresheet with a well taken one-on-one with the keeper.
Everyone was on there game and soon after we were in again. Goals to Nathan Schembri Tom Barnes had us up 4-0 at half time. We werent finshed though, and soon after the restart we were back on the attack. 2nd half goals to Nathan and Will finished the game off 7-0 and lifted us ahead of Doyalson on the table. For the second game running Josh Wilcher was voted player of the match by his team.

19-6-10 - Wasnt our day today... All we needed was a little luck to change the game against table topping Southern Ettalong. Nil all at half time was a fair result for both teams as it was a very even game. An early 2nd half goal to Southern put us on the back foot and even with some spirited attack we were unable to find a goal. A second goal to Southern sealed the win for them and leaves us with plenty of work to do if we want to make finals...

12-6-10 - U16's went down 3-2 to kanwal.. a much improved effort as we lost 5-1 last time to them. a couple of unlucky calls against us might have derailed some teams but not these guys and girls!!! 2-0 down at half time came back to be 2-2 untill an unlucky penalty against josh Peruch.

22-5-10 - Well, what a game!!! Up against the league leaders... We started strongly pressuring the Killarney goal with some spirited attack. Barnsey opened the scoring with a fantastic shot, clearing the keeper from well outside the box. Killarney were quick to hit back with a good finish one-on-one against Will in goals. Mountains didnt let that stop them though and kept on the attack. Jake Carraro in only his 2nd game for the year unleashed a fearsome shot which rattled the crossbar with the keeper beaten, johhny-on-the-spot Shane Spano was quick to volley it into the open net for his first goal of the year!! Troy Leccas then scored with a nicely placed shot into the bottom corner.
3-1 up at half time was a good start but we were wary of being run down again. With a few positional changes we came out in the second half and kept going were we left off in the first. A good Troy Leccas corner was flicked on by Will which Shane slammed into the net for his second goal. Our defence was holding firm with Josh Peruch marshalling his troops at the back. Ashley, Tash, Kirsty and Natalie, backed up with some incredible saves by Jack Pengelly in goals, kept out the now desparate attack of Killarney. On the counter attack, Troy Leccas made a great run to finish the game off with his second goal. All in all a great performance from a side that is now building towards becoming a genuine threat in the competition. 5-1 over the top placed team was a good reward for a great effort. Well done to Player of the Match Shane Spano.

1-5-10 - Nil all Draw
The all 16s proved that they are stll a team to be recond with, with a nil all draw against Southern Ettalong. They all played well as a team and my short time as a coach I proud to be a part of this side and hope we play as well like this in upcoming games.

24-4-10 - The 16's were unlucky today. Started off slowly and by halftime we were down 3-0 against a very lively Kanwal side.
However in the second half they started to play some very good football and could have scored a number of goals.
Nathan Schembri scored an opportunists goal within about 10 sec of a kick off!!! Troy Leccas was very unlucky - hitting the post once and floating a shot over the bar after being one-on-one with the keeper.
The defence back up by Jack in goals in the first half and Will in the second kept us in the game. In the end they went down 5-1 but were unlucky not to score 4 themselves. We will keep working towards our first win!!!

17-4-10 - U16b's Gwandalan 3 Mountain 1.

10-4-10 - We went down 3-2 to Killarney Vale. We lost in the last 3 minutes!!! But everyone played very well.
